“Love Yourself" – IFE FARA (Yoruba)

Created by Kristen Ayomide Walker for us, by us. When you are comfortable in the skin you’re in, you are better able to navigate the world around you. Clothing should be transitional and comfortable enough for every aspect of your life. Ayomide believes you cannot go through the growing pains of life in uncomfortable clothes! She wants everyone to be as comfortable and stylish as possible when we experience the magnificent change, growth, and infinite possibilities we face every day. She also wants everyone to have jewelry we can live in. Functional, transitional, and symbolic pieces of endurance, patience, introspection, adaptability, rootedness, and reach.

The company was born out of Ayomide’s frustration in her search for beautiful jewelry and clothing with a meaning, by and for, her people. While there are inspirational t-shirts and plaques she couldn’t seem to find something that also embodied her sense of style, elegance, and class. Not being able to find what she was looking for she decided to create and design her own.

What makes Ife Fara different from Honesty is in its African roots. Each item symbolizes a piece of tradition. Tradition that was widely lost from our history here in the United States, but through Ife Fara and others it is being uncovered like never before. Ife Fara incorporates symbols such as the “Asase Ye Duru” which symbolizes the providence, power and authority of Mother Earth and the “Denkyem” which symbolizes intelligence and adaptability. The characteristics of each symbol can be applied to everyday situations or to our lives in general. Each symbol featured gives Ayomide tangible evidence that her existence on this earth is greater than her and stands as a reminder of her responsibility to her ancestors and to the generations to come. The connection is powerful and beautiful and she wants to share that connection with you!
